On a PET scan, are the “dark” or singled out areas cancer?

The dr says my husband has cancer and he had a PET scan done. We have the images. We see the brain activity and understand that’s what we are seeing. Are the other areas that are “glowing” or dark the cancer?

It has taken radiologists 12 years to get to the point to be able to read PET scans so no one will able to teach you in a few sentences over the internet. However, dark areas are not cancer. PET scans show areas with high metabolic activity. These areas are bright and often cancer. However, there are other things with high metabolic activity and this is where being a doctor comes in handy. You are better off reading the report for your information and then looking at the scan.
