Best Pet Fish

Best pet fish?

I have a fish tank thats about 2.5 gallons, I think, it may be a little bigger. It is an actual tank, not a bowl. It has a medium sized filter and a light on top, etc.

I was wondering what’s a low maintenance fish that can survive in water that’s generally around 74-78 degrees.

I’d like a type of fish where I could maybe put two in the tank or so. I always feel bad having just one all alone.

Any suggestions? And bare with me, I’m no fish expert.
I’ve tried goldfish before and am wanting to try out a new type of fish. I’ve kept goldfish alive and well for roughly 3years each time I’ve had them (unless they got a fungus :( )
So yeah, looking for something new :)

74-78 degrees is excellent for the common Betta fish. Do NOT put a goldfish into a tank that small, it is much too small for any variety of goldfish. There are no fish that stay small enough (with the exception of, say, ember tetras-they’re pretty rare though) to fit more than one of them in that tank.

I set up a 2.5 gallon tank for my grandmother with a single betta, and trust me when i say that he’s very happy with all the space! Bettas are very active fish when they live in warm temps, and they are quite intelligent as well. They are solitary fish by nature, so don’t feel bad keeping one alone.

Hope that helps :) !
