Birds Pet Names

Can you name some tall indoor plants that are not posionous to pet birds?

Ummm yeah, what sapphire said, except I highly recommend cross-checking a plant species for safety on at least 2 other websites before deeming it “bird safe.” I’ve seen the same plant listed on one site as safe and toxic on another site. If any website says the plant is toxic, don’t use it. And even when you do find a safe one, I’d let your bird nibble on a small amount of the plant and monitor for any signs of reaction before fully introducing your birds to a plant.

My 3 favorite websites to consult for the safety of plants for birds are these:

As far as tall indoor plants, do you mean something like an indoor tree or something tall but not a tree? If you’re looking for a tree, ficus seem to do well in pots indoors, are quite attractive, easy to find and are bird safe. Bamboo might also be a neat one (especially species that branch) but will probably be harder to find and much more expensive. If you’re looking for a shrub (though I don’t know how well it does indoors) hibiscus is bird safe and produces beautiful flowers. There are also small species of palms that are kept indoors in pots that might be fun to have.

Oh and on another note, I would *not* recommend that you use a fake plant as suggested by a previous poster. If your birds chew on it there’s a good chance they are going to ingest some of the material, which could be toxic and fatal to your birds. Best stick with bird-safe species of live plants or not let your birds near the plants at all (fake or living). Good luck! :)

MY NEW HAHN’S MACAW I DONT KNOW WHAT TO NAME HIM ANY IDEAS!?
