My computer will not let me uninstall Sims 2 …?

I have purchased through direct download The Sims 3, but I have to uninstall the sims 2 first. I uninstalled all my other expansion packs without any problem, but every time I try to uninstall The Sims 2 Pets my computer does nothing. I used the Panel Control> Add / Remove Programs and tried to remove the files, but nothing has worked so far.
