Does anyone know a Fish distributor or wholesaler for NYC?

I want to start a fish store, but I don’t know where to start. Can someone please help. I would love it if a previous fish/pet store owner can be my mentor. I have a business degree from a top entrepreneurial college with an insatiable interest in fish

I’ve thought about this myself for a year or so, and I actually consulted with some other business owners. I’m not far from your area, about 30 minutes off the GW, and what I was told a few months ago from some already established business, this just isn’t the time to start out with it in this industry. The economy just isn’t there to support a new starting business. Most of these business’s will be operating at a loss for the first few years, and given these conditions, I’d expect it to go longer then that.

It’s not just about your overhead either. You need to advertise and get established, and that’s what brings your money in. NYC already is blanketed by so many chain stores, it’s going to be extremely difficult to even get off the ground. If I were going to do this, I’d look at up in Westchester and see what is around there. At least up in Westchester, you don’t have to worry about your prices quite so bad as that’s a money county.

I’m about 20 credits short of a Business Administration degree myself and believe me, if I thought I could pull this off I would. I have quite a few benefits I haven’t called in on from being a Military Vet, but the way things are at this time, I wouldn’t try this.
