Sold a puppy now the buyer wants us to take her back advice appreciated???!!!?

Sold a dog 8 months old, kc registered, unspade and up to date with jabs. Buyer now says she has a urinary infection so she needs to be spade. Buyer says no good to him because he cant breed from her. When we advertised her we said all up to date with jabs, worming, flead, next season due feb/march, could be bred from, excellent pedigree at no stage did we realise she had a urinary infection. When he bought her it was for a pet for him to take to work, he never mentioned once breeding from her and now she has this infection he wants us to take her back and his money back. We are in no way breeders she was a pet to us that just didnt work out with our other commitments. She cost £1500 and we sold her for £700 as he said she would be going to a good home. Where do we stand. There was no contract between us or him. Can we refuse???
Thank sin advance for your answers.

Dogs with UTI’s (urinary) do not need to be spayed, a simple round of antibiotics and a possible diet change will clear the infection. If she has a UTERINE infection (Pyometra) that is another story and an emergency spay would be required to save her life.

All good (reputable, responsible) breeders will take any of the dogs they bred back, regardless of age and no questions asked. Well, of course you can refuse to take her back, but then you need to live with the fact that she will most likely be dropped off at a shelter.

You are responsible for this dogs life, so -in my opinion- you should absolutely take her back. If this was a pup I bred I would have already been in the car to get her from her owners.

P.S. The ‘good home’ you chose doesn’t seem like a very good home to me.

ADD: Apparently someone doesn’t like honesty.

ADD2: Majestik moose, UTI’s are NOT necessarily caused by lack of care. Please be careful with your answers.

ADD3: I apologize, I misread your question. Since you did not breed her, no, you are in no way obligated to take her back. Yes, you can refuse. Tell them to call the local breed rescue and relinguish her… apparently they are not a good fit. Good luck!! :)
