Dad could have cancer?

So about 2 months ago my dad went to to the doctor and they found something on his lung. He went to one of the best tharrastic surgeons in the country at Boston Medical Center. The doctor ran a million tests on him like any test you could possibly do (CT Scan PET scan MRI biopsies) And the doctor cleared him of cancer and instead told him that he has aspergillis(sp?) which is mold in the lungs. They gave him 3 inhalers and some antibiotics and said that it takes 6 months to a year to clear up. Last week he went to a polmonary. They have not run any of their own test yet but said that they think the first doctor was wrong. I am worried and now he is going to see a second opinion today. I know there is no way for any of you to know if he really has cancer but I feel like cancer is so easy to detect nowadays that i dont understand after the 20 test the doctor ran on him he wouldnt find it. What do you think?
one of the test he already had was a bronchoscopy

The medical literature reports occasional cases where a lesion caused by cancer gets invaded by aspergillus, and the aspergillus infection completely hides the cancer. Fortunately, this tends to occur only in small, isolated lesions at the earliest stage of cancer. So, it’s possible this has happened to your father. It could be that the treatments for the aspergillus have been effective, and now the cancer is more obvious. A new biopsy should be more conclusive.
