Children’s Deaths Tied to Pet Doors?

More than a hundred children have died or been seriously injured in the last decade after squeezing through tiny pet doors and getting into swimming pools or other dangerous places, new research has found. “What we see is a picture that’s emerging which shows that the pet door is a really serious hazard in a home that no one has really had on the radar screen,” said Sean Kane, of Safety Research and Strategies. At the request of trial lawyers, Kane combed through hundreds of coroner’s reports…

The operative word here is DOOR. Plain and simple. Pet doors are doors. If parents leave their people doors open and their child gets out and has a mishap, do they blame the door maker? No. Pet doors are no different. If parents leave their pet doors open and their child gets out and has a mishap, the parent was negligent.

A child goes out my pet door they land in a covered kennel run – no danger there. No buglers, strays, wildlife in the door. No dogs going out to chase a skunk or tangle with neighbors dog.

yeah when I’m home they go out in big yard – but when I’m not this is safer…

so how is it impossible for a dog door to be safe?
