Where are people putting their pets if they are staying in shelters in CA because of the fires?

I would imagine they’re not allowed in special buildings with people because of health laws. Also, is it true that the San Diego Zoo was evacuating?

Pets are being addressed, many of the outside shelters (QualComm in particular) allow you to bring pets as the shelter is in the parking lot. There are many pet and livestock only shelters (for large animals at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and several other so equipped facilities).
The North County Humane Society has opened a shelter at El Camino High School in Oceanside.

The list goes on and on- the county is much better prepared now than in 2003.
The zoo was not in danger last that I saw- the Wild Animal Park was not evacuating because there was a fire break all around the park. That may have changed from the last time I peeled my eyes off of the TV.
