flying with my puggle?

Today I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I’m planning on writing a very long, detailed letter to American Airlines and anyone who will listen, please let me know if anyone has suggestions on how to get my complaint heard.

This took place on November 12th 2007. My pet and I were scheduled for American Airlines flight #3238 out of Lafayette Regional Airport at 6:38 am. I was planning on traveling with my 1 yr old puggle, i followed the pet policy, i called the vet, i called a pet store i did everything to ensure a safe happy trip. Long story short the Manager at the airline was obviously terrified of dogs. She did everything to could to find a way for me to not fly. I had all my angles covered and she couldnt argue my research. When she went to move my dog she ended up ripping the handle off the kennels and used that as an excuse for us to not fly. I was left alone with a dog in an airport totally stranded. american airlines wont help me! now what?

I would write them a letter, being very polite and diplomatic about what happened, tell them that you were disgusted in the treatment you received, if that doesn’t get a reply I would threaten them with Consumer Affairs ( or your equivalent) or the anti discrimination board. And tell them you want the crate fixed or replaced, Even tell them you will go to the Newspapers about it. Its not as though your dog was going to be running around the cabin,
Id love to know how you go with it. and well done for doing your research!
