How to get me and my dog over to Italy?

I want to go to Italy to stay with my sister for 6 weeks. I had got my Lily her doggy passport so she won’t have to go into quarenteen when we come back. I had assumed it would be “simple” to take her over on the flight with me. Its not! I assumed I would just pay for a ticket for her, then take her on the same flight…. but to get her there its £700 ONE WAY as you have to use a pet courier / travel agent etc. I can’t afford to pay that much.

Is there another way of getting there WITH the dog??? Can I get to Milan with the dog, on the train or a coach? Can I go on the ferry with her as a foot passanger? or on Eurostar? Has anyone driven to Milan from UK? How long would that take etc?

How come I can get a flight from Bristol to Milan for about £50 yet to take the dog I have to go on BA via Heathrow and it costs £700?

Does anyone have any advise or can anyone help? Thanks.

I was thinking of taking my 2 dogs to Italy and I’m just looking into passports and how to get them there. I’ve found a site www.ferrytravelclub.com The only thing is you need to register, but I did have a read and it said it’s £15 each way to take your dog on the ferry but doesn’t give you destinations, as I said you need to register to find out more details also you can check this other web page www.directferries.co.uk.
