Therapy Pets
I received a lot of radiation therapy, and PET. CT scan. Will it affects others when I hugging them?
I like to hug and play with children, will My radiation treatment and X-ray cause any effect on them? I received a lot of Radiation and PET.CT scan because of nasopharyngeal cancer.
Depends on your radiation treatment. Is it external radiation therapy, internal radiation therapy or systemic radiation therapy (which also is internal). If you received radiation via a machine aimed at a part of your body you are not radio active and do not need to worry about hugging anyone. Like-wise for X-Rays. No worry.
Internal radiation is a sealed implant that stays in the area targeted. The entire body does not become radio active. Usually requires a few days in the hospital to keep others away from you and then you are returned to every day life.
Systemic radiation therapy is implanted internally but is not sealed. A lot of precautions must be taken because the whole body is radio active. Another consideration is the amount of radiation given. Large amount or small. If you have internal radiation you must find out from our doctor what the precautions are. As I said before, external radiation therapy and X-Rays pose no problems for those you hug.
