tropical pet fish types
What type of pet fish is best for me?

Hello!
I have one goldfish 15ltr tank and I love keeping my little friend in there but I would love to up my experience and get a much larger tank, I have a 15ltr tank with a simple filter and lid, but I eventually want one with an air stone, lots bigger, and light in built, and I would like different fish other than the goldfish. I like fish that are colorful and interesting to look at, the time I can dedicate for care is quite large everyday.
Is it best for me to stick to cold water? or tropical I’m not sure? what do you guys think?

Thanks for your help!
Kieran

Not all tropical fish get along with each other. There are three groups of tropical fish: community, semi aggressive or hardy, or agressive. Community fish breed uncontrollably. Most babies won’t survive because other fish will eat them. They are also the most cheap and colorful fish and they prefer to be bought in small groups of their own kind and others. They aren’t the strongest fish.
Community fish include mollies, guppies, swordtails, pineapples, and more. All fish tanks should include a pleco algae feeder atleast 4 inches long so the algae won’t build up. I would prefer you get three schools of these species.
Semi agressive fish include a larger variety of species. They are alot tougher fish than community because if you forget to feed them, they will peck at algae. They also make due with messy tanks. They cost 3-10 dollars each and also prefer to be bought in schools of 3 or 4.
The semi agressive fish include gouramis barbs, a few species of chichlids, and tetras. I always prefer kissing gouramis and buy baby dinosaur eels to grow up bonding with my fish. Always keep an algae eater in the tank or else your tank will be green in days.
If you want agressive fish, you would want to get a bunch of one type. They are tough and won’t bite fish of the same type. Some grow up to shine beautiful colors. These are the easiest to care for and most expensive.
Agressive fish include parrot chichlids, oscar chichlids, and alot of other chichlids. I prefer parrot chichlids because they are the prettiest and oscars have a scary look on their face.
Goldfish don’t prefer bowls and common goldfish can be put in 10 gallon tanks in groups. Fancy goldfish can be put in couples in 20 gallons or more. They can be very funny to watch and make your tank worth more than you pay for.

If you don’t want to put work into fish, you should get a betta. There isn’t much to them and can be put in vases with waterfalls or plants. Saltwater fish shouldn’t be bought by beginners. I would prefer tropicals but this is your choice.
